Hello! My name is Mrs. (Polly) Gunzenhauser. This is my 23rd year as a member of the Iowa Valley School District. I started as a paraeducator in 1999 and since 2003 I have taught in 3rd, 6th and most of my career in 1st grade. I have also worked as a library assistant and was a cheerleading coach for 13 years from 1999-2013.

I have a (BA) in Interior Design from Iowa State University where I provided in-home consultations in San Diego, California while working for a company called Calico Corners when my husband, Steve, was working for the United States Navy. He retired in 1998 which brought us home to Iowa. I received my (BA) teaching degree from Coe College in 2003.

My husband and I are Iowa Valley alumni. We are proud to be Tigers. I take great pride in creating a positive learning environment for my students. I have a passion for teaching and I strive for success. I still have the cheerleader voice; GO TIGERS!

I live outside of town with my husband Steve and new puppy, Whiskey. We have two sons; Seth and Clay. Seth lives outside of Marengo and works for Read Electric and Clay works as a civil engineer for PLC out in Tempe, Arizona. We love to travel on our motorcycles, canoe the Iowa River, and visit with family and friends. We love supporting our Iowa Valley Tigers and working in our community.

Communication is important so if you have any questions please contact me at or by calling the elementary school at 319-642-5422.
