Mr. Curtis McAtee - Home Page

Welcome back!
I am thrilled to have the chance to get to know your child this year in fifth grade! The fifth graders will trade only for Social Studies and Science.

We will be introducing a new reading series this year at the elementary. It is very supportive of the Core Standards and it contains some good pieces of literature that the students will enjoy.

We will continue using technology in class with the Smartboard, mobie computer lab, and iPad.

Mrs. Jacobson and I will continue to stress personal responsibility to the students this year. This means they bring necessary materials to class, and are prepared for the day. It is up to the student to remember lunch money, and most importantly get homework done and returned to school. We (fourth – sixth grade teachers)will continue to utilize the homework turn in policy in hopes of increasing the work completion of the students.

I know in the fifth grade your child will have classroom work time on a daily basis. This gives them the opportunity to ask questions or clarify assignment expectations before they leave. If they use their class time efficiently, your child should not ever have an inordinate amount of homework.

I look forward to getting to know you and your child this year. If at anytime you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,
Curtis McAtee
