Hello!
My name is Tony Shade and I'm a third grade teacher here at Iowa Valley. I've been teaching here for 17 years. I have a teaching certificate from the University of Iowa and a masters in curriculum and instruction from the University of Saint Mary.
Third grade is an exciting year for our students. In third grade, they experience changing classrooms part of the day. All students have me for science and Mrs. Henry for social studies. Our third graders also get to have an assignment planner which allows them to keep track of their assignments.
Some of the topics they will experience in third grade are cursive, multiplication, division, growing plants, government, and guided reading. In addition, the third grade usually takes field trips to the lily pond in Amana and the state capital.
